Abstract-Based Presentation Options
There are three abstract-based presentation format options for the 2016 ASCB | EMBO Meeting:
Minisymposium Talk (12 min talk + 3 min Q&A)
Microsymposium Talk (7 min talk + 3 min Q&A)
Please click on the tabs below for more information about each presentation type.
You must submit by the first abstract deadline, August 1, to be considered for a Minisymposium Talk or Microsymposium Talk.
Minisymposia Talks are 12 minutes with a 3-minute Q&A (15 minutes total per speaker). Each minisymposia will have a 5-minute introduction followed by 10 talks.
There will be 25 Minisymposia under 4 umbrella topics and 10 more specific topics. Minisymposia titles will be determined in late August after all abstracts are submitted and will be driven by the abstracts received. Six to 7 Minisymposia run concurrently Sunday-Tuesday afternoon (4:15-6:50 pm), and Wednesday morning (8:30-11:05 am).

Submit by August 1 to be considered for a Minisymposium Talk.
Submit by August 1 to be considered for a shorter Microsymposium Talk. During Step 3: Submission Details of abstract submission, you must check this box under “Presentation Preference.” You will only be considered for this format if you check the box and are not selected for a Minisymposia talk.
Microsymposia talks are 7 minutes with a 3 minute Q&A (10 minutes total). Each Microsymposia will have a 7 speakers selected from abstracts.
18 Microsymposia will be generated from abstracts not selected for Minisymposia. Microsymposia topics are directly correlated to the number of abstracts received for each of the 11 topics. Not all topics will necessarily have a Microsymposia session assigned as this is based on the number of abstracts submitted to each topic.
Two concurrent Microsymposia will be presented on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday afternoon in the Microsymposia Rooms 1 and 2 in the Learning Center (Exhibit Hall) from 11:00 am to 12:10 pm, 12:25 pm to 1:35 pm, and 1:50 pm to 3:00 pm.

Please note: If you are selected for both a Microsymposium Talk and a poster, and they conflict, you will be expected to be present at the Microsymposia talk and not at your poster board. We try to minimize conflicts as much as possible, but sometimes they cannot be avoided.
You can submit by the following three deadlines to present a poster:
- Tuesday, August 1, at 9:00 pm EDT (deadline for expedited review for Visa-related purposes)
- Thursday, August 31, at 9:00 pm EDT
- Wednesday, October 11, at 9:00 pm EDT (this final deadline has a higher fee).

Posters are displayed throughout the meeting, beginning Saturday evening through Tuesday afternoon. Posters are on display from the evening before the poster session until the afternoon after the session. Poster presentations occur between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm Sunday through Tuesday in the Learning Center (Exhibit Hall). Poster sessions are each 90 minutes, one from 12:00-1:30 pm and one from 1:30-3:00 pm.
Abstract submitters will be accepted to give a poster presentation as long as their abstracts present data, show that research has occurred, and they are not commercial in nature. Please click here, then the tab on the left that reads “Tips to Ensure Acceptance, for more information.”
